Day 1 – Flying London Heathrow to Chicago

Left the Hyatt hotel on Bath Road and decided to have breakfast at the airport.  Drove to the long stay car park at Terminal 5.  Bus came almost immediately which was great.

Went to check in at the BA desk and were told we had to go to a different desk – after the third time! We eventually checked in our luggage.  Off it went on the conveyor belt and left me with that nervous feeling of will it arrive in Chicago when we do?  But, being organised a had a few changes of clothes in my hand luggage.

Off through security which was very slick and quick and then to have breakfast.  We enjoyed a freshly squeezed orange juice, whilst I had a lovely Eggs florentine (with spinach and bacon) Chris went for the full English.

Time passed quickly at the airport and we were soon called to board our plane.

The flight was excellent, we were in the premium economy section and as we took our seats we were handed a glass of champagne – always a good start to any journey.

After take off we had an excellent meal – see the menu below:

I then settled down, relaxed and watched a “western” film – well I had to get in the mood, knowing some of the sites we would be seeing over the coming days.
